Scam Alert

Scam alert: Someone is impersonating Taylor-Copeland Law

People who do not work for us are texting victims of crypto fraud. They claim to work for Taylor-Copeland Law and say we are building a case against the platform that cheated you. Then they ask for your personal information. These messages did not come from us.

Our only website is taylorcopelandlaw.com. The site at taylorcopelandalaw.com, with an extra “a,” is fake.

What we will never do:

  • Text you out of the blue and offer to recover your money.

  • Ask for your passwords, wallet seed phrase, or private keys.

  • Ask for your Social Security number, ID, or bank details before you have met with us and signed an engagement agreement.

  • Ask you to pay an upfront fee, “release fee,” or tax to get your money back, or ask for payment in cryptocurrency or gift cards.

  • Claim that a government agency appointed us to recover money for scam victims.

How to check whether a message really came from us

Don’t use any phone number, email, or link in the message. Look up James Taylor-Copeland (State Bar No. 284743) at apps.calbar.ca.gov and call the number listed there.

If someone contacted you

Don’t reply, click links, or send money or documents. Report the contact to the FBI at ic3.gov. Forward the text to 7726 (SPAM) so your carrier can block the sender.

If you already sent money or personal information

Call your bank or payment platform right away and file a report at ic3.gov. If you shared your Social Security number or ID, go to identitytheft.gov for a recovery plan.
